GWYDR attend the London launch of Creative Cardiff at BAFTA

19th September 2011

Creative Cardiff is a two month long showcase of the creative industries in Cardiff that started with bang September 12th, 2011 in London.

The evening was hosted by Cardiff & Co as part of the Cardiff Ambassador Programme, and GWYDR was delighted to be invited along to participate.

One of the key topics of the night was the upcoming Cardiff Design Festival 2011 running from September 30th -15th October. This annual festival is set to shine a spotlight on aspects of design with a series of exhibitions, talks and events to be in held in locations across the city, and celebrates how designs impact our daily lives. As members of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery Wales, GWYDR is proud to be organising an exhibition of contemporary jewellery from a variety of Welsh designers in Cardiff Central Library as part of the Design Festival. The exhibition will run from October 1st – November 1st.

The London launch evening of Creative Cardiff was a huge success that had a surprising and original start. Posing as guests and generally intermingling during the pre-drinks reception, The Admiral Inspire Choir suddenly broke cover and burst into an exhilarating version of Queen’s, ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’. The seemingly impromptu performance of ‘attendees’ was definitely inspirational, and would have made the cast of the hit series Glee proud!
